Figure skating was held as part of the 11th National Games of the People's Republic of China. Figure skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. In addition to the short program and free skating, single skaters also performed a 3:30 minute interpretive exhibition program, for which music with vocals was permitted. This competition was distinct from the 2009 Chinese Figure Skating Championships, which is an annual competition; the Chinese National Games are held quadrennially.

Figure skating events were held between 7 April and 12 April, 2009 in Shandong, Qingdao.
