The Men's Long Jump event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada, had an entrylist of 33 competitors, with two qualifying groups (33 jumpers) before the final (12) took place on Thursday July 29, 1976. The top twelve and ties, and all those reaching 7.80 metres advanced to the final. The qualification round was held in Wednesday July 28, 1976.
