Louisiana Highway 34 (LA 34) is a state highway in Louisiana that spans 86.1 miles (138.6 km). It serves Grant Parish, Winn Parish, Jackson Parish, and Ouachita Parish.

Route description

From the south, LA 34 begins in Montgomery at an intersection with U.S. Highway 71 and heads northeast into Winn Parish going through Wheeling and Atlanta. LA 34 also intersects U.S. Highway 84 and U.S. Highway 167 in Winnfield goes through Joyce and then heads due north into Jackson Parish. LA 34 intersects with Louisiana Highway 4 in Chatham. LA 34 also intersects Louisiana Highway 144 in Eros before entering Ouachita Parish. LA 34 heads due east, then north past Bawcomville, where LA 34 turns to the northeast and becomes Stella Street. LA 34 intersects Interstate 20 before ending at an intersection with U.S. Highway 80 in Monroe.

History

From the south, LA 34 began in Montgomery at a four-way intersection with U.S. 71/LA 1 and LA 1105, then heads northeast into Winn Parish as State Route 1479, going through Wheeling and Atlanta, changing to State Route 5 in Atlanta. LA 34 also intersects US 84/LA 6 and US 167/LA 99 in Winnfield, then goes through Joyce, changing from State Route 6 to State Route 234, and then heads due north into Jackson Parish. LA 34/State Route 234 intersects with LA 17 in Chatham, changing to State Route 13. LA 34/State Route 13 also intersects State Route 1303 in Eros before entering Ouachita Parish. LA 34 heads due east, then north past Bawcomville, where LA 34 turns to the northeast and becomes Stella Street, changing to State Route 200. LA 34/LA 200 intersects with US 80/LA 4 in West Monroe.
