Sacred Heart Academy is an all-girls preparatory school located on Cathedral Avenue, in Hempstead, New York, United States. It is private and Catholic. Located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, it is run by the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Sacred Heart Academy is a single-sex school for girls, grades 9 to 12. The official school colors of Sacred Heart are red and gold.


Sacred Heart Academy was established in 1949 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood.[2]


Students are required to wear uniforms. The school uniform is a white blouse, maroon or blue blazer, a just above the knee length skirt, school-issued maroon or navy tights, and either oxfords or penny loafers. The skirt colour varies depending on which year the student is in.


Sacred Heart Academy is a member of the Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Girls Athletic League and participates in interscholastic volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, track and field, cross country, swimming, golf and tennis. Basketball, soccer and lacrosse teams have all won state.

Musical Theatre

Sacred Heart Academy produces an annual musical in which all grades may audition and participate. It is held in the Virginia Crowley Theater. Students from Chaminade, a local all-male high school, as well as Kellenberg, St. Mary's, St. Dominic's, St Francis Prep and St. John the Baptist may also audition for male roles.
