History

Turtle Mountain was created in 1987 by current President/CEO So Delicious Dairy Free. Turtle Mountain followed that up in 2001 with the introduction of Purely Decadent, a premium line of frozen desserts sold in pints.

Turtle Mountain’s company name was inspired by a place in Nicaragua that borders the ocean, where sea turtles lay their eggs. Natives to the area refer to the place as Turtle Mountain.[3] As part of its company mission, Turtle Mountain donates a portion of its profits to the Sea Turtle Restoration Project, an organization that seeks to protect endangered sea turtle populations around the world.
