Ulagansky District (Russian: Улаганский район; Altay: Улаган аймак) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the ten in the Altai Republic, Russia. It is located in the east of the republic. The area of the district is 18,367 square kilometers (7,092 sq mi). Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Ulagan.[1] Population: 11,581 (2002 Census);[6] 11,176 (1989 Census).[7] The population of Ulagan accounts for 28.3% of the district's total population.[3]
