Bio:
Ankur Mutreja is an advocate by profession and a writer by choice. He published his first book in the year 2015 entitled "Writings @ Ankur Mutreja" as a non-professional endeavour mainly comprising short essays. Soon he realised the book needed to be drawn into easily presentable forms for less involved audience; so, he derived three more books from the same entitled "Sparks", "Flare", and "Light." These were his introduction to the world as a writer/essayist. But, of course, a writer is a thinker first, and a good thinker doesn't think in genres. Ankur Mutreja has not set up any contours to his writings. He just thinks and expresses. So, he pens poems while writing travelogues, as in "Kerala Hugged"; incorporates fiction in essays, as in "Claims on Privacy"; and amalgamate satire, critique and philosophy, as in "Anti-National Humanist." But that shouldn't stop him from writing poetry and prose. So, do enjoy his book of poems entitled "Nine Poems", and do wait for prose till he writes one.

Kerala Hugged: A Travelogue (Munnar/Kochi/Alleppey/Varkala)

By: Ankur Mutreja

In a borderless world, all would be travelers indeed. India is a small borderless world in itself, and Kerala lies at its southernmost tip. The author lives near the lovely Kashmir, but does that make Kerala any less lovely! This book is indeed author's baby born out of his love of nature. "Writing books is the closest men ever came to having children." --Norman Mailer Kerala is beautiful not only because of "God" but also because of the people who have made Keral...

Anti-National Humanist

By: Ankur Mutreja

In this essay, the author is trying to answer the question: is there a political possibility of existence of a humanist as an anti-national humanist? He wonders if it is possible for humanists like doctors to not become the externalities of nationalism labeling the blood saffron, green, red, black and white (even pacifists die in wars between nations).

Claims on Privacy : An Essay, Volume 1: An Essay

By: Ankur Mutreja

The "Claims on Privacy" is an essay justifying the categorization of privacy as a generic natural right like the right to life and liberty. An inextricable link has been drawn between dignity and privacy in the essay through the life story of a fictional character XYZ as no contour can really be drawn to an abstract right in a system which can't be tailor-made. Various articles published by the author on his blog privacy.ankurmutreja.com have also been added as appendice...

Nine Poems (Volume 1)

By: Ankur Mutreja

Complex are the ways of life. Difficult it is to describe them in Black & White. Emotions are many; Words are few. And those who know them are far and few Life is a book of poems; And this is mine. Beautiful or ugly, you determine.

Standing frail, she diffused her smell far and wide. Not a man who was not attracted to this beauty of fairies. Not a man who didn’t wish to appropriate her for self. But her misty eyes were still poignant for love. For which vulnerability, the men staged duals a plenty. Yet she remained Virgin, for none had the limbs enough. The luxury of choice she didn't have, But her heart plotted a rebel nevertheless. An evening clouded the Sun of the West. When the soun...

Light : Philosophy

By: Ankur Mutreja

What is Philosophy? Is it the exclusive domain of those who dream in abstract? Or is it the manifestation of the struggle of those who practice in material? Does it originate in the minds of professors like a Ganges flowing out from the hair-locks of "Lord" Shiva? Or is it rustic and puerile, evolving into maturity through the experiences of common men. I started writing philosophy without actually knowing that I was writing one. To start with, it was an outlet to projec...

Flare: Opinions (Law, Human Rights and Politics)

By: Ankur Mutreja

Opinions are like flare, which can turn either way: they can spread like wild fire or encapsulate themselves within the bounds of personal integrity, and thus illuminate. I started writing opinions in the late 2008 through my blogs. I admit at times I did go wild with unsubstantiated accusations and surmises, leading to risky speculations and irresponsible opinions. Recently, I published a comprehensive book of my writings entitled "Writings @ Ankur Mutreja", and the pre...

Sparks : Satire and Reviews

By: Ankur Mutreja

This book is an alternative representation of my thoughts, which have been more comprehensively presented in another of my books Writings @ Ankur Mutreja. I felt the need to publish this book separately to cater to the needs of those readers who don’t have much time to read books. This book is indeed a light reading. The book starts with the chapter entitled Satire, which, as the name suggests, comprises pointed attacks on the societal idiosyncrasies and hypocrisies,...

Writings @ Ankur Mutreja

By: Ankur Mutreja

This book presents my views on various issues ranging from contemporary events to personal philosophy. This book is, in fact, a consolidation of my views concretized on my blogs over years – which can be accessed from my website www.ankurmutreja.com – and is divided into four sections: Satire, Reviews, Opinions and Philosophy. I would recommend you to at least check out the first section entitled Satire. Then, you may move onto the Reviews section – as a natural transiti...
