Jadhav

Jadhav is a Maratha clan in India, mainly concentrated in the Marathi-speaking state of Maharashtra. The word Jadhav derives from the word "Yadav"; the Jadhavs traditionally claimed descent from the Yadavas of Devagiri, who in turn claimed descent from Yadu.

"Jadhav" is used as a surname by the members of this clan, and may refer to:

  • Lakhuji Jadhav (lived in the 16th century), a Nizam Shahi jagirdar, father-in-law of Shahaji, maternal grandfather of Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire in India
  • Dhanaji Jadhav (1650–1708), a Maratha general
  • Mary Clubwala Jadhav (1909-1975), Indian philanthropist and social worker
  • Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav (1926-1984), Indian wrestler
