  • December 8 – British troops are airlifted to Borneo to quell uprisings in the region.
  • December 15 – The U.S. Navy reports that the last Soviet offensive weapons – 15 crated Ilyushin Il-28 (NATO reporting name "Beagle") bombers – have been removed from Cuba.[28]
