Status development

SonicStar is a supersonic aircraft jet airliner project envisaged by HyperMach CEO Richard Lugg.[1]

Lugg said at the 2011 Paris Air Show he plans to get the plane airborne by June 2021.[1] It would reach speeds of up to Mach 4.4 (3,431 miles per hour (5,522 km/h))[1] and fly at an altitude of 60,000 feet (18,300 m).[2] The propulsion is projected to be 30% more fuel efficient than the Rolls Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 Engine in the Concorde.[2] The SonicStar would, hypothetically, fly at twice the speed of the Concorde.[1] It is planned to be powered by two (theoretical) 54,700 thrust SonicBlue S-MAGJET (Supersonic-Magnetic Advanced Generation Jet Electric Turbine[2]) hybrid supersonic 4000-X series engines.[3] Some sonic boom is planned to be avoided through electromagnetic drag reduction technology (currently not in existence), eliminating the infamous hallmark of the Concorde predecessor.[2]

The SonicStar would carry thirty two passengers[2] in "VIP luxury accommodation."[1]
