Kandukur or Kandukuru is a town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is classified as a municipality, which serves as the headquarters of Kandukur mandal.[3]

Geography
Kandukuru (earlier known as Skandapuri) is located at .[4] It has an average elevation of 13 metres (43 ft). kandukur road

Telugu is the official languages of the state of Andhra Pradesh and is spoken very commonly in Kandukuru.
Demographics
As of 2014 India census,[5] Kandukur had a population of 1,85,120. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kandukur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kandukuru, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Kandukuru is an assembly constituency in Praksam District, Andhra Pradesh. There were 1,76,773 registered voters in Kandukuru constituency for the 1999 elections. Kandukuru is part of "Nellore" parlement constituency.
Transport
The town is very well connected by Road to all the major Cities(Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Chennai) and towns in Andhra Pradesh.[6] The nearest Railway stations is "Singarayakonda" (SKM). However the nearest Major Railway station is "Ongole"(OGL). Ongole is District Headquarters. The nearest domestic Airport is at Vijayawada at a distance of 213 km. Renigunta Airport is at 230 km Distance. For International Travel the Nearest airport is in Chennai(Meenabakkam Airport) at a distance of 314 km.
