Steven Carl Raible (born June 2, 1954) is a weeknight news anchor for KIRO 7 in Seattle, Washington and the lead play-by-play radio commentator for the Seattle Seahawks, a National Football League team. He is also a former player for the Seahawks.
Born in Atlanta. An original member of the Seattle Seahawks as a second round selection in the 1976 NFL Draft (59th overall), he played wide receiver for six seasons, from 1976 to 1981. Raible was the first professional football player from Trinity High School in Louisville.[1]
After his playing career, Raible became a sports reporter at KIRO-TV and now shares duties as one of the co-anchors for the news team. Since 2004, he has been the lead play-by-play radio announcer for the Seahawks (the "Voice of the Seahawks") on flagship stations KIRO-AM 710 ESPN Seattle and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, where his notable catchphrases include "Are you kidding me?!" and "Holy catfish!"[2] Raible also hosts the TV coverage of the Seafair hydroplane races and Blue Angels airshow during the first weekend of August each year in Seattle. He shaved his famous mustache in March 2008, due to KIRO 7 making the switch to High definition.[3]
In his career as a news anchor, he has received five Regional Emmy Awards, including two for "best anchor".[4]
