Therefore, the c u r r i c u l a of medical schools and other healti, traininy, i n s t i t u t e s should r e f l e c t the health problems of the country i n ui~lckt~h ey a r e s i t u a t e d . However, health rain ink c u r r i c u l a i n many countries have l i t t l e or no provision for t r a i n i n g i n leprosy. The h i s t o r i c a l reabons f o r t h i s incluae tlre a t t i t u a e ot the general population toward the disease, basea on unreasonable t e a r ot contractiny it. In the pst in the absence of e i f e c c i v e therapy the only yuLlic health measure consiaered useful in leprosy control wab to i s o l a t e the source of i n f e c t i o n from the &enera1 ana t h i s l e a to the srgrekatlon or known case*.
