INTRODUCTION One of the major problems facing health administrators and nurses is how to provide nursing service l in the quantity demanded and in the quality that they know is needed and possible. The present meeting was convened to consider the provision of such nursing services ; the education of sufficient nursing personnel to meet the demand ; and the encouragement of research aimed at the improvement of patient care.l These issues have to be considered in relation to the problems facing different countries of the world and with awareness of the need for nursing to adapt to the changes that are bound to occur within the next decade.
