Recorrían la última y prolongada bóveda de cañón corrido construida en tabique y vieron la luz de la salida donde se encontraba la Cruz Roja, el Río a cielo abierto encauzado entre altos muros continuaba y daba una curva hacia la margen izquierda, al llegar a ese sitio contemplaron un alto y majestuoso puente construido con un solo y enorme arco (Puente de Tepetapa), después de este sitio encontraron la salida de aguas negras y de inimaginables desechos del rastro; sangre, estiércol, excremento, tripas y larvas acompañadas de un nauseabundo e insoportable olor, Alfredo no lo pudo evitar y vomitó.
