Overview

Surprisingly, Ella and the Basie band had only recorded together once before, on the 1957 album One O'Clock Jump.

This album was the first time that Fitzgerald and Jones worked together; they would next meet for the Back on the Block sessions in 1989.

This album is revered alongside Ella in Hollywood (1961) as one of Ella's greatest recordings.
